Coquitlam occupies 130 square kilometers in the northeast sector of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. The city is also served by the WestCoast Express, a fast commuter rail service connecting Coquitlam Centre with downtown Vancouver. The current SkyTrain project is expected to connect Coquitlam with Vancouver, New Westminster, Surrey, and Burnaby by 2003. The City has developed elaborate networks of biking and pedestrian routes.
